Acceptance of these terms
Welcome to Alpenglühen Lounge. These Terms of Use apply to your visits to our lounge at Rennweg 26 in Zürich, to our members’ evenings and events, and to this website. By entering the lounge, taking part in an event or using the website, you accept these terms. They form an agreement between you and Alpenglühen Lounge GmbH, a limited liability company registered in the commercial register of the Canton of Zürich.
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when our services or the law change. The version published on this page applies from the date shown above. If you continue to visit the lounge or use the website after a change, the updated terms apply. Please check this page now and then.
Who may visit
Our lounge and events are open to people who meet the following conditions:
- You are at least 18 years old. Our hosts may ask for an official photo ID (passport, identity card or Swiss driving licence) at the door.
- You have the capacity to enter into an agreement under the Swiss Civil Code.
- No court or authority has barred you from visiting entertainment venues.
- The information you give us when you register as a member or reserve a table is accurate and complete.
- You follow all applicable Swiss federal, cantonal and municipal laws while you are with us, including the rules on youth protection and on smoking in enclosed spaces.
We may refuse entry or ask a guest to leave where we have good reason, in particular if these terms are breached or if a guest puts other guests, our staff or the building at risk.
Conduct in the lounge
Alpenglühen is a shared space, and every evening depends on mutual respect. When you visit, you agree to:
- treat other guests and our staff with courtesy and respect;
- follow the house rules posted in the lounge and the instructions of our hosts;
- take care of the furniture, games and equipment, and report any damage;
- drink responsibly and keep noise at a level that respects our neighbours in the Old Town, especially after 22:00;
- refrain from any disruptive, threatening, discriminatory or unlawful behaviour;
- not use the lounge, its games or this website for any fraudulent or unauthorised purpose;
- keep your members’ login details to yourself and not share them with others.
Where these rules are not respected, we may ask a guest to leave, suspend or end a membership and, where appropriate, involve the police or take legal action.
Games and events
The games, tournaments, quiz nights and league evenings at Alpenglühen are social entertainment. They are played for enjoyment and company, and the only thing anyone takes home from a tournament is a good story; the trophy stays behind the bar.
Event dates, formats and line-ups may change. We announce changes on this website and by email to registered members as early as we reasonably can.
Reservations
You can reserve a table by phone, by email or through the contact form on this website. A reservation is confirmed only once you receive our reply. We hold reserved tables for twenty minutes after the agreed time. For groups of more than eight people, please contact us at least three days in advance so we can prepare the room.
Intellectual property
All content on this website and in our printed material, including texts, photographs, logos, the name “Alpenglühen Lounge”, graphics and the quiz questions we write, belongs to Alpenglühen Lounge GmbH or to the people who licensed it to us, and is protected by the Swiss Federal Act on Copyright and Related Rights and the Trade Mark Protection Act.
You may view and print pages for your own private use. Any other copying, editing, distribution or public use requires our prior written consent.
Privacy
We take the protection of your personal data seriously. How we collect and use it is explained in our Privacy Policy, which follows the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) and forms part of these terms.
We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures. You are responsible for keeping your own login details confidential.
Changes to our services
We work to keep the lounge and the website running reliably. We nevertheless reserve the right to:
- change, pause or end individual services, events or programmes;
- change our opening hours, the games on offer or the layout of the rooms;
- close parts of the lounge or the website for maintenance or renovation;
- introduce new features, house rules or procedures where needed.
We will announce significant changes in good time wherever this is reasonably possible.
Liability
We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, and for personal injury, in accordance with the Swiss Code of Obligations. For slight negligence our liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law.
Where liability for slight negligence cannot be excluded, it is limited to foreseeable, typical damage and to no more than CHF 1’000 per event. We are not liable for the loss of items left unattended in the lounge, except for items handed in at our coat check.
The information on this website is prepared with care, but we cannot guarantee that it is always complete and up to date. We are not responsible for the content of external websites we link to.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Alpenglühen Lounge GmbH, its staff and its partners against claims by third parties that arise because you:
- used the lounge, its equipment or this website in breach of these terms;
- breached the law or the rights of other people during your visit;
- caused damage to the building, furniture or games through intent or negligence.
Governing law and place of jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Swiss substantive law, excluding the rules on conflict of laws and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
The exclusive place of jurisdiction is Zürich, Switzerland; the competent court is the District Court of Zürich (Bezirksgericht Zürich), subject to an appeal to the Higher Court of the Canton of Zürich and the Swiss Federal Supreme Court. Mandatory places of jurisdiction for consumers under the Swiss Civil Procedure Code remain reserved. Before going to court we will always try to reach an amicable solution with you; if this fails within thirty days, either party may take legal steps.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is or becomes invalid, the remaining provisions remain in force. The invalid provision is replaced by a valid one that comes as close as possible to its economic purpose.
